Head of Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group Meets with Chair of UK Parliament’s FG with Serbia

The Head of Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group, Zoran Babic, met today, at the National Assembly House, with Karen Lumley, Chair of the UK Parliament’s All-Party Group for Serbia.

Babic informed the UK MP about the National Assembly’s work and the reform laws that have been passed so far, with a special focus on the Labour Law and Privatisation Law, the prerequisites for attracting foreign investment. He stressed that building good-neighbourly relations and full dedication to European integration are Serbia’s priorities.
Karen Lumley said she had visited Serbia many times and noticed progress with each successive visit.
“Since the Serbian Progressive Party came to power I have noticed big changes, among them a more stable economy. When a party with a strong leader comes into power things begin to improve much faster. I am sure Serbia will be seen as one of the leading countries in the region, especially for investment”, said Lumley.
Speaking about investment into Serbia Lumley reminded of Serbia’s Investment Forum in London, in October, and the British investors’ evident interest, and pleasure at being addressed by the Serbian Prime Minister. So as to further promote Serbia in the UK, Lumley plans to organise Days of Serbia at the UP Parliament where representatives of Serbian companies will be able to inform the British investors about their work.
Lumley believes it very important to have other UK politicians visit Serbia.
“This is very important because only when they visit will they be able to see what a great country this is” said Lumley.
She said that Serbia has vast tourist potential, highlighting wellness tourism (spas) which she believes can be successfully marketed in the UK.
