Head of National Assembly Standing Delegation to IAO Takes Part in 24th Annual Conference of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations

The Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) Aleksandar Cotric took part in the 24th Annual Conference of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations organized by the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations and the Russian Orthodox Church of Kaluga, on 21-24 March, in Kaluga, Russian Federation, with the topic “Equality and justice as the basis of stability in the world – Christian view”.

Cotric explained how Serbia views equality and justice in contemporary international relations, stressing that the country’s strategic goal is to join the European Union without associating with any military alliance, which is why the National Assembly adopted the Declaration on Military Neutrality.

MP Cotric said that, in addition to its strategic goal of joining the European Union, Serbia also wants to maintain good relations with Russia, Turkey, China, the US and all the other countries in the world. He stressed that good relations with the Russian Federation are one of the country’s priorities not only because of the past but because of the future as well because Russia is one of Serbia’s biggest political and economic partners.

“Although Serbia is pressured to impose sanctions on Russia, Serbia has not done so because it is a free and independent state and makes its decisions autonomously”, said Cotric.

The participants of the conference, coming from 24 countries, adopted a Resolution agreeing that Christian values do contribute to equality and justice as the basis of stability in the world.
