Head and Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia Meet with Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia, Dr Aleksandra Tomic, and the Parliamentary Friendship Group members met, at the National Assembly, with the Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Harry Richard James Kandou.

The officials agreed that Serbia and Indonesia have a long tradition of good relations, ever since the Non-Aligned Movement. They opined that the interparliamentary cooperation established by an exchange of visits of parliamentary speakers and the visit the Indonesian parliamentary delegation paid to the National Assembly, is successful.

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia, Dr Aleksandra Tomic thanked Indonesia for its consistent and principled decision not to recognise the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo. She also pointed out the heartening fact that the trade between Serbia and Indonesia is worth 50 million USD, which is an encouragement and invitation to Indonesian investors into agriculture, IT, tourism, military and chemical industry. Aleksandra Tomic said that, in the past year, the National assembly had passed 140 economic laws, improving the business environment and creating better business conditions.

Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia Harry Richard James Kandou said he supported Serbia’s European integration and economic reform, adding that some Indonesian companies have already started to invest into Serbia.

The meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador was also attended by PFG members Enis Imamovic, Zarko Micin, Velinka Tosic, Dr Sulejman Ugljanin and Dragan Todorovic, who said that there is room to improve cooperation in the fields of education, culture and tourism.
