Head and Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary Speak to Hungarian National Assembly Speaker

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary Zarko Micin and PFG members met today, at the National Assembly, with Hungarian National Assembly Speaker László Kövér, in official visit to the Republic of Serbia.


The Head of the PFG with Hungary Zarko Micin and Hungarian National Assembly Speaker László Kövér agreed that the two countries’ relations are at a very high level and both states are interested in seeing them develop further. They highlighted the importance of the reconciliation between the two countries, begun in 2013, in which the Serbian and Hungarian presidents and prime ministers played a very important role. Hungarian National Assembly Speaker László Kövér agreed with PFG Head Zarko Micin that the two countries’ MPs play an important role in the reconciliation process and bringing the Serbian and Hungarian people closer together. They said that interparliamentary cooperation can be further improved via meetings between parliamentary friendship groups and cooperation of parliamentary committees.
PFG Head Zarko Micin thanked Hungary for its support of Serbia’s European integration process, stressing that the National Assembly especially values the experience of the Hungarian National Assembly in the EU accession process, particularly as regards legislation.
In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the possibility and importance of cooperation between Serbia and Hungary in the fields of economy, transport and agriculture.
The meeting was attended by PFG members Nenad Mitrovic, Miroljub Stankovic, Marjana Maras, Mirjana Dragas, Vladimir Djukanovic, Boban Birmancevic, Mirjana Andric, Biljana Ilic Stosic, Dr Gordana Zoric, Velinka Tosic, Arpad Fremond, Gordana Comic and Aleksandar Cotric, as well as the Head of the Hungary-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group Károly Pánczél, Spokesperson of the Serbian national minority Ljubomir Aleksov and Hungarian Ambassador Serbia Attila Pinter.
