Foreign Affairs Committee Member Marija Obradovic Takes Part in Fifth Meeting of South-East European Foreign Policy Committees in Zagreb

Marija Obradovic, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, took part in the Fifth Meeting of South-East European Foreign Policy Committees in Zagreb, on 25 and 26 September 2014.

The topics of the Fifth Meeting of South-East European Foreign Policy Committees (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia), expanded composition including the Macedonian Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee, covered economic cooperation in the region of South-East Europe and EU enlargement. The participants were also presented the Visegrad Group cooperation model.

The participants exchanged experiences and views on the topics of the meeting, stressing that the existing economic cooperation, as well as the participation of all the institutions of the countries in the region, should be boosted in order to ensure economic development and improve the position of the EU candidate states on the common European market. They also highlighted the need to encourage projects aimed at developing infrastructural and energy capacities via the use of EU pre-accession i.e. cohesion and structural funds. The participants agreed that the countries need to step up cooperation aimed at strengthening the European integration processes which contribute to political stability and economic development of South-East Europe.
