The meeting with the Committee members is one of a series the OSCE expert is having with relevant factors so as to draft an analysis and recommendations for the working group for the drafting of amendments to the Law on Financing Political Activities.
Lisa Klein drew the Committee members’ attention to areas which might be subject to the amendments of the current Law on Financing Political Activities, with a special focus on the process of filing misdemeanour complaints and the duties and responsibilities of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
The Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, Vesna Kovac, and Committee Deputy Chairman Radojko Obradovic discussed the relationship between the National Assembly and independent regulatory bodies with the OSCE expert, possible ways to control the funding of electoral activities, and the importance of establishing how political activities should be funded – from state or private sources.
The meeting was also attended by Committee members Dragan Tomic, Zoran Pralica, Katica Vijuk, Zoltan Pek, Radmilo Kostic and Slobodan Jeremic, and OSCE representative Mato Mayer.
