Exchanging Euro-Integration Experiences Mutually Beneficial, Says Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration at National Assembly

The Chairman of the European Integration Committee Nenad Canak met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Victor Dolidze to discuss exchanging European integration experiences.

Canak said that the majority of the Parliament is in agreement when it comes to EU accession – 86% of the MPs, both majority party and opposition, are pro-European. He stressed that Euro-integration is Serbia’s strategic goal as it would lead both to stability in the region and Serbia’s economic and political development. Canak also added that the two countries’ respecting one another’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is very important for their bilateral relations and that Serbia and the European Integration Committee would offer support and exchange EU accession experiences with their Georgian colleagues.

Minister Dolidze said that Serbia’s experiences are very important for Georgia’s European path and the exchange would be mutually beneficial. He stated that in the European integration process Georgia has mainly focused on education, infrastructure and energy, as well as economic reform, fight against corruption and migration management, all of which stand to benefit from the two countries’ continued cooperation.

Committee members Elvira Kovacs and Gordana Comic stressed that the consensus of the political factors and cooperation with the non-governmental sector are extremely important for the progress of the Euro-integration process and commended Georgia’s readiness to conduct educational reform. They added that as Committee members they would lend their full support to the future cooperation and exchange of experiences with their Georgian colleagues.
