Dr Orlic and Malawi Parliament Speaker: Strengthening Cooperation, Priority for Both Sides

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today in Kigali, under the auspices of the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with the Speaker of the Parliament of Malawi, Catherine Gotani Hara, with whom he discussed strengthening political and economic relations.

The officials particularly emphasised the importance of improving cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, culture and trade, which are of priority interest for both sides. "There is a lot of room for cooperation and joint work, both through the IPU and through the activities of our national parliaments," said Dr Orlic.

Speaking about interparliamentary cooperation, Catherine Gotani Hara stressed that it is important to improve it, mentioning that the foundations for it had been laid in 2019, when Belgrade hosted the 141st IPU Assembly. Dr Orlic expressed the expectation that the new legislature of the Serbian Assembly too would set up a Parliamentary Friendship Group with Malawi, which will further improve relations between the two countries.
