Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Deputy Chairman Miodrag Linta Meets with Representatives of Serbs from Mostar

Miodrag Linta, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, said he was most pleased to meet with the representatives of Serbs from Mostar and briefed the guests on the activities of the Committee comprising MPs who know no boundaries or differences. Linta said it was important to exchange information, emphasizing to that end the significance of the monthly “Srpsko Kolo”, unique in the region, dedicated to Serbs living there and printed in 25,000 copies.

He assured the guests that the Committee would continue to cooperate with the relevant ministries and state authorities on the realization of all of its activities.

Mostar Rector Radivoje Krulj presented Mostar as the centre of Herzegovina, a prospective city of 105,000, among them 5,000 Serbs. Mostar’s youth numbers 200 children of elementary-school age and about 100 high-schoolers, who attend schools which provide Orthodox teachings, as well as history and culture, said Krulj. He also emphasized the importance of the reconstruction of the Church of Holy Trinity one of the symbols of Mostar, which would serve and contribute to both the city and its citizens.

The head of the municipality of Nevesinje Milenko Avdalovic said that one of the chief problems of Serbs in Mostar is their political organization following the principle of equality since they have no political representatives and exercise their political rights through the municipality of Nevesinje.

The meeting was attended by Milimir Vujadinovic, deputy member of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, and Sanja Bjelica of the Coordination of Serbian Associations of the City of Mostar.
