Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Chairman at Folklore Festival "Kolo - Bond That Lasts"

The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Dragan Stanojevic attended the Folklore Festival "Kolo - the bond that lasts" in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany, on 9 November 2024.

The cultural and artistic programme was preceded by a working meeting called by Djordje Milanovic, resident of the Union of the Serbian Diaspora and attended by Committee Chairman Dragan Stanojevic and representatives of the management of all the cultural and artistic societies present. At the meeting, the attending particularly emphasised the importance of connecting our diaspora with the motherland, not only through the preservation of cultural traditions, but also through the application of modern technological platforms. Such a modern approach would enable faster access to information and the exchange of knowledge and experience, which would facilitate professional cooperation between Serbs, be they in their home country or in the diaspora. In this regard, the specific dates of the fairs, to be conducted by the Union of the Serbian Diaspora as a project, were also mentioned at the meeting.

At the end of the working meeting, the Committee Chairman pointed out that our diaspora will have the strong support of the Committee for all ideas and projects aimed at connecting our people in the diaspora with their home country.

At the beginning of the festival, which represents the largest exhibition of cultural and artistic societies in Europe, the Committee Chairman addressed the attendees, welcomed them on behalf of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the region and stressing that the cultural-artistic and folklore societies represent the most numerous communities of our diaspora, which aim to preserve, nurture and promote our cultural heritage.
