Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Chairman Miodrag Linta Receives Charter of St. Sava in Skopje

At the St. Sava Academy in Skopje on 27 January 2018, the Serb Community in Macedonia presented the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia with the Charter of St. Sava as the highest recognition of the Serbian people in Macedonia for its efforts to preserve the national identity.


The Charter was presented to Committee Chairman Miodrag Linta by Gordana Jovic Stojkovska, President of the Serb Community in Macedonia. The Committee delegation also included Aleksandar Markovic, member of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.

Addressing the attending eminent guests and fellow Serbs, Linta thanked the Serb Community in Macedonia for the prestigious award. He stressed that the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region would continue to do all in its power to help the survival of the Serbian people in Macedonia and contribute to its national and cultural identity. Linta told the Serbs in Macedonia to stand united and be proud of their origin, language, script, customs and tradition.

The gathering at the Macedonian National Theatre in Skopje was attended by more than 700 Serbs and guests, many of whom had standing room only. The guests included Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and ministers, Serbian President’s envoy Minister of Defence Aleksanda Vulin, envoy of the Serbian member of the Presidency of the Bosnia and Herzegovina, President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Prof. Dr Sinisa Karan, the Russian Ambassador to Macedonia, Serbian Ambassador to Macedonia and many others.

The programme included the Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Srpska, Nebojsa Babic of the opera of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, Belgrade actors Sloboda Micalovic, Nebojsa Dugalic, Tasana Djordjevic and Lazar Dubovac, writer and publicist Dragoslav Bokan, musical ensemble Djurdjevi Stupovi and folklore ensemble “Venac” from Gracanica.
