Culture and Information Committee Has Public Interviews with Candidates for REM Council Members

The Culture and Information Committee held a public hearing with the topic: Public interview with the proposed candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), at the National Assembly today.


The Chairperson of the Culture and Information Committee, Nevena Djuric greeted that participants of the public hearing - members of the Culture and Information Committee, MPs who are not members of the Committee, the proposed candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, authorised proposers, as well as representatives of the OSCE Office, delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, the embassies of the Kingdom of Norway and the Federal Republic of Germany.

She said that this enables the wider public to take part in the work of the Culture and Information Committee adding that she hoped that the discussion would be constrictive and extensive.

The following candidates for members of the REM Council introduced themselves to the participants of the public hearing: Stevica Smederevac and Gordana Predic, nominated by the representatives of the Ombudsman, Commissioner for Protection of Equality and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection; Vanja Sibalic and Milan Petkovic, nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia; Milos Garic, nominated by associations of electronic media publishers in the Republic of Serbia, while the second candidate Jovana Vitez was justifiably absent; Mileva Malesic and Djordje Vlajic, nominated by journalists' associations in the Republic of Serbia; Mladen Maticevic and Ira Prodanov Krajisic, nominated by associations of film, stage and drama artists and the association of composers in the Republic of Serbia; Rodoljub Sabic and Antonela Riha, nominated by associations whose field of activity is freedom of expression; Dusan Aleksic and Dubravka Valic Nedeljkovic, nominated by associations concerned with child protection; Muhedin Fijuljanin and Ljumturije Ameti, nominated by national councils of national minorities and Snezana Miljkovic and Mevljud Dudic, nominated by churches and religious communities.

Following the introduction, the participants of the public hearing proceeded to interview the candidates.
