Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Delegation Visits Serbian Community in Macedonia

Dr Aleksandar Peranovic and Jovana Jovanovic, members of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, visited Skopje, 26-28 January, and talked with representatives of the Serbian community about its status and achieved level of minority rights in Macedonia.


The delegation met with Gordana Jovic-Stojkovska, president of the Serbian community in Macedonia, and Ivan Stoilkovic, President of the Democratic Party of Serbs in Macedonia and member of the Macedonian Parliament (Sobranie). Dr Aleksandar Peranovic and Jovana Jovanovic also met with Macedonian Government’s Deputy Minister of Culture Dragan Nedeljkovic at the Ministry of Culture, and presented him, after the meeting, with a monograph on Nikola Tesla on the behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
In the course of its visit to the Serbian community, the delegation of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region attended the St. Sava Academy in Kumanovo on 26 January. Dr Aleksandar Peranovic greeted the assembly, extended congratulations on the behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and wished them success in their further efforts on maintaining cooperation and understanding between the two countries.
In addition to the Committee delegation, the central celebration of the national and state holiday of the Serbian community in Macedonia in Skopje on 27 January was also attended by Secretary General to the President of the Republic of Serbia Nedeljko Tenjovic, and Macedonian officials: Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, Minister of Interior Gordana Jankuloska and Deputy Minister of Culture Dragan Nedeljkovic.
