On the behalf of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, the Memorandum was signed by Committee Chairman and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic and on the behalf of the State Audit Institution (DRI) by DRI Council President and Chief State Auditor Radoslav Sretenovic.

At the press conference following the signing of the Memorandum, Committee Chairman and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic said that this brings us one step closer to one of the National Assembly’s constitutional duties - oversight over the implementation of laws by the National Assembly and its working bodies.

“This agreement raises the existing level of cooperation between the institutions, because the National Assembly, the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and the State Audit Institution are all safe keepers of public funds, funds entrusted to them by the citizens of Serbia, meaning that those disposing of them should spend them in line with the law and justify the legality and appropriateness of their use”, concluded Arsic. He opined that the existing cooperation between the Committee and the DRI, already at a very high level, has with this Memorandum reached new heights and is expected to yield better results.

DRI Council President and Chief State Auditor Radoslav Sretenovic said that the Memorandum improves the relationship between the DRI and the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, as well as cooperation in their control of public spending. The DRI will continue to keep the Committee informed about the public spending done by audited subjects and budgetary beneficiaries, and announced the submission of reports and initiatives to be considered along with the Committee members so that the relevant regulations could be amended.
