Commission for the Control of the Execution of Criminal Sanctions Visits Belgrade District Prison
The Commission for the Control of the Execution of Criminal Sanctions comprising President Dr Muamer Bacevac, and members Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, Dejan Kesar and MA Danijela Vujicic visited the Belgrade District Prison on 3 November 2021 to gain insight into the living conditions, treatment and protection of the rights the detainees in this institution.
At the beginning of the visit, the members of the Commission, talked with the Warden of the District Prison Zvonko Grulovic and the Director of the Special Prison Hospital Dr Dragoljub Paunovic in the administrative building to gain general insight into the quality and standards concerning the people held in custody, as well as convicts, capacity of individual facilities and their occupancy, current state and actual needs of the health service within the Special Hospital, quality of nutrition of prisoners, followed by a tour of the District Prison and Special Hospital. In the course of the visit, the members of the Commission spoke with a number of detainees about their accommodation and prison conditions, establishing excellent cooperation with the employees and management of the District Prison and the Special Prison Hospital.
After the tour of the facilities, the members of the Commission, exchanged impressions and asked for additional information regarding certain observations in the presence of the Warden of the District Prison and the Director of the Special Prison Hospital.
