32nd Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy
At the sitting held on 20 October, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy discussed and accepted, in principle, the Investment Bill, Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Bankruptcy Supervision Agency and the Bill on Consensual Financial Restructuring.
The Committee also discussed and accepted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Development Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Czech Republic.
The Bills were elaborated by Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic.
Speaking of the Investment Bill the Minister said that it provides the general legal framework for investments into the Republic of Serbia, as well as stipulates the establishment and operation of the Economic Development Council and the Serbian Development Agency. According to him, the Bill is supposed to ascertain investment support subjects to provide efficient services to the investors. The key goals of the Bill are to improve the investment environment and encourage direct investments to promote economic development and boost employment. It also aims to equalise the treatment of domestic and foreign investors, boost the efficiency of the authorities’ services in direct relation with investment and guarantees the protection of investments conducted in accordance with the law, which at the same time boosts the level of protection from expropriation procedures. The Bill also specifies types of investments, investment criteria and stimuli, and obligates the ministry in charge of the economy to run controls of investment projects.
Minister Sertic also provided the rationale for the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Bankruptcy Supervision Agency and the Bill on Consensual Financial Restructuring and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Development Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Czech Republic.
On the behalf of the Ministry of Economy, the sitting was attended by Minister Zeljko Sertic and associates, and on the behalf of the Bankruptcy Supervision Agency by its Director, Danijela Vazura.
