26th Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy

At the sitting held on 14 May 2018, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy reviewed, in principle, the Bill on Central Register of Real Owners and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Mediation in Trade and Lease of Real Estate, submitted by the Government.

The Bill on Central Register of Real Owners was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Danijela Vazura and acting Assistant Minister of Economy Dusan Vuckovic who said that the purpose of the Bill was to improve the system of detection and prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as harmonization of the national legislation with the international standards in the field. They said that the Bill, adjusted to the tenets of EU Directive 2015/849 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing, was a completely new form of electronic registry in Serbia.

Vesna Kovac, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, presented the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Mediation in Trade and Lease of Real Estate, stressing that its chief goal was to prevent money laundering and suppress terrorist financing in the field of mediation in the trade and/or lease of real estate.

The Committee members went on to adopt, in principle, the Bill on Central Register of Real Owners and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Mediation in Trade and Lease of Real Estate, by majority vote.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Snezana B. Petrovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Zoran Bojanic, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Ana Carapic, Aleksandra Tomic, Studenka Kovacevic, Natasa Jovanovic, Aleksandar Stevanovic, Snezana R. Petrovic, Stanislava Janosevic, Gorica Gajic, Maja Puzic Macuzic and Jelena Mijatovic.
