26th Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction

At the sitting held on 24 July, the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction discussed launching an initiative with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs to sign an agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Bosnia and Herzegovina on free movement of labour force following the Nordic Model of Cooperation, in accordance with the Igman Initiative project.

Committee Chairperson Dr Vesna Rakonjac said that it would be prudent to utilise the positive atmosphere after the visit of the BiH delegation to Serbia and announced the realisation of joint economic projects. Even though the realisation of the agreement would necessitate the consent of all the BiH entities, now is the right time to send the initiative to the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs to sign an agreement on free movement of labour force between the two countries, added Rakonjac.

She briefly informed the Committee members about the Igman Initiative project and the support it provides the signatories of the Dayton Accords in the harmonisation of legislation regulating the free movement of labour force following the Nordic Model of Cooperation.

Following a discussion, the Committee decided, by majority vote, to accept the Proposal to launch an initiative with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs to sign an agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Bosnia and Herzegovina on free movement of labour force following the Nordic Model of Cooperation, in accordance with the Igman Initiative project.

The sitting was chaired by Dr Vesna Rakonjac, Committee Chairperson.
