Pursuant to Article 92b of the Budget System Law, the Committee was submitted candidate proposals for Fiscal Council members proposed by the President of the Republic who proposes the Fiscal Council President, and Minister of Finance and the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia who propose one Fiscal Council member each.

The President of the Republic proposed candidate Prof. Dr Pavle Petrovic for Fiscal Council President, the Minister of Finance proposed candidate MA Nikola Altiparmakov for Fiscal Council member, and the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia proposed candidate Prof. Dr Vladimir Vuckovic for Fiscal Council member.

In the debate on the proposed candidates for Fiscal Council members the Committee members shared their opinions of the Fiscal Council’s role and decisions in the previous period, as well as on the provisions of the Budget System Law in the part concerning the Fiscal Council, the relationship with the IMF and the World Bank, transparency of the Fiscal Council member nomination procedure and the candidates’ aptitude for the office they were proposed for. They also touched on the current macroeconomic situation in the country and complained that they would not be able to interview the candidates at the sitting, they spoke about policy efficiency and policy continuity of all the Governments in the past five years, subsidies and their impact on the country’s economy, finances of the local self-governments and their impact on public finances of the entire Republic, public debt now and then, etc.

Following the debate the Committee members established the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Fiscal Council members by majority vote and decided to propose that the National Assembly discuss it under urgent procedure, in line with Article 167 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Olivera Pesic, Goran Kovacevic, Vojislav Vujic, Momo Colakovic, Radmilo Kostic, Veroljub Arsic, Zoltan Pek, Nikola Jolovic, Zoran Krasic, Sasa Radulovic, Goran Ciric, Milan Lapcevic, Milorad Mircic and Zika Gojkovic.
