16th Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 11 June, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society reviewed, in principle, eight of the bills on the agenda for the Fifth Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013.


Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Dr Zarko Obradovic provided the rationale behind the Bill on Elementary Education and Upbringing, Bill on Secondary Education and Upbringing, Bill on Adult Education, Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Basic Principles of the System of Education and Upbringing, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Pupil and Student Standard, Bill amending the Law on Salaries in State Bodies and Public Services, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Innovation Activity and the Bill on the Protection of Topographies of Semiconductor Products.
In the course of the debate, the Committee members voiced their opinions on the bills. They also spoke of the curriculum content and importance of upbringing as a role played by educational institutions. They also mentioned the teachers’ motivation to achieve positive results in education. The Committee members also underlined the importance of adult education.
Following the debate, the Committee adopted the bills in principle.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Prof. Dr Miodrag Stojkovic.
